Guest Lecturer: Roberto Giobbi
On Saturday, March 7, 2009 Roberto Giobbi will present a practical seminar on Dai Vernon including a look at his techniques, effects, presentations and theories.
Dai Vernon was one of the most important magicians in history. Roberto explains how to study and apply Vernon’s ground-breaking practical magic. He will demonstrate and discuss what made Vernon a captivation genius in magic.
Besides examining Vernon’s subtle card magic, he will also discuss Cups and Balls, tricks and techniques with coins as they were used by Fred Kaps in his FISM act when he won the Grand Prix. He will also discuss Vernon’s dice routine that he performed for the Queen of Belgium and his famous gambling demonstration.
The 3-hour seminar will include numerous rare films where Dai Vernon performs some of his most famous creations.

This is not a typical lecture. It is a different approach, with an academic slant and an artistic attitude. It is still very practical and very inspiring — giving us an attitude to approach our magic discipline.
